The Heritage Centre offers a full complement of services which assist our tenants in maintaining as much independence as possible, while providing the supportive help they need to live a happy and productive life. A basic package of services is available with each tenant’s monthly fee. Beyond this, assistance can be provided in a number of areas on an ala carte basis. Tenants pay only for those extra services that they need.
A continental breakfast is provided with each tenant’s monthly fee. In addition, another meal is also included, either lunch or supper, based on the person’s preference. A third meal is available for a modest extra charge. Even though all of our apartments have full kitchens, there is no need to cook at the Heritage Centre!
Assistance in maintaining personal hygiene is available from qualified staff members who can assist with bathing and dressing, according to the tenant’s needs. A personal emergency response system guarantees that help can be reached, day or night, in case of emergency, simply by touching a button. The Heritage Centre is staffed 24-hours per day, and additionally is situated adjacent to Ave Maria Village, so there is always back-up help available right next door.
One-half hour of basic housekeeping is provided to each tenant on a weekly basis. For those desiring deeper or more extensive housekeeping services, staff is available for an extra fee.
Many of our apartments have washer/dryer hook-ups. In addition, there are laundry facilities located on each floor throughout the building for the use of our tenants. Don’t want to do laundry anymore? No problem! Our staff can wash, dry, fold, and return your laundry to you at a per-load charge.
The Heritage Centre has a handicapped-accessible transport bus, with qualified drivers who can take tenants to medical or other appointments, on shopping trips, or for whatever purpose they desire, within the local community. For the times the bus is not running, each tenant is provided two free tickets each month for the James River Transit System.
A weekly interdenominational worship service is held at the Heritage Centre. In addition, several religious services per week are held just down the hall in the beautiful Good Shepherd Chapel at Ave Maria Village. These include Protestant services conducted by clergy members from the area and weekly Catholic Mass. Other religious activities include Bible studies, rosary, and special musical programs.
A full array of beauty salon services are provided right next door at Ave Maria Village, where a licensed shop is staffed by two excellent hair stylists. Services for women include sets, perms, coloring, haircuts, and styling. Men’s haircuts and styling are also available.
There is always something to do at the Heritage Centre. A full schedule of activities caters to a variety of tastes and interests. In addition, everyone is invited to attend any and all activities and events next door at Ave Maria Village. Whether it’s board games, discussion groups, arts and crafts, card games, woodworking, you name it, there’s something for everyone. And one can be as involved as they want to be.
